Suspended BJP MLA from Telangana T Raja Singh was arrested by Hyderabad police on Thursday two days after he was released on a court order. Raja Singh had stirred up a controversy after making blasphemous comments on Prophet Muhammad.
Raja’s release had triggered fresh protests in Hyderabad city.
Earlier in the day, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said protests in some parts of the city were a direct result of the alleged hate speech by the saffron party leader. He demanded Raja Singh’s arrest and vowed to continue the protest until he is held.
The FIR was registered against him at the Dabeerpura Police Station under sections 153(A), 295, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code. The BJP suspended the MLA and said his remarks were against the party's line. On Thursday, Police officials said that Raja has again been arrested. More details are awaited.
