Congress national spokesperson Ragini Nayak has accused India TV Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma of using abusive language against her during a television debate. The purported incident occurred during the counting of votes of the Lok Sabha elections, when Nayak was representing Congress on the channel.
Addressing a press conference, Ragini Nayak said that a viral video showed Rajat Sharma mumbling abusive words during the debate.
As she questioned the channel anchor during the presser, Nayak broke into tears.
Meanwhile, India TV called the allegations absolutely false, malicious and defamatory. The channel warned Nayak of legal action.
However, Nayak filed a police complaint against Sharma for offences under IPC section 294 for obscenity and section for insulting the modesty of a woman.
