Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal has claimed that she has been receiving rape threats after she wrote a letter against Sajid Khan, a TV reality show contestant to I&B miniter Anurag Thakur.
In a Twitter post, Maliwal alleged that she has been getting rape threat on her Instagram DMs. Sharing a screenshot of the messages on the microblogging site, Maliwal said "Obviously, they want to stop our work. I am complaining to Delhi Police. Register FIR and investigate. Arrest those who are behind this," Swati Maliwal tweeted.
The DCW chairpersn moved against Sajid Khan demanding his removal from TV reality show Bigg Boss as Khan had previously been embroiled in #MeToo movement. Several women had brought sexual harassment charges against him during the movement.
Seeking action from the information and broadcasting ministry, Maliwal wrote to the ministry and said that it is inappropriate to feature a "sexual predator" in a primetime show. However, there has been no response from the ministry yet, Maliwal tol ANI.
Meanwhile, Federation of Western India Cine Employees in its letter to I&B miniter said that Khan has already served the punishment as he was banned to work in the industry for an year.
