Maharashtra politics continue to remain on boil after NCP chief Sharad Pawar's nephew Ajit Pawar defected and joined Eknath Shinde-led state government, claiming he has the support of several party MLAs.
Amid all the political chaos, a meeting of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leaders is underway at the residence of party president Sharad Pawar in Delhi.
Earlier today, 13 NCP leaders, including PC Chacko, Jitendra Awhad, Fauzia Khan and Vandana Chavan arrived at the residence of party chief Sharad Pawar in Delhi to attend the National Executive meeting.
While sources revealed that Election Commission has received a petition from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar staking claim to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and the party symbol.
Meanwhile, Ajit Pawar has termed the ongoing meeting by the Sharad Pawar faction as illegal saying it has 'no legal sanctity', NDTV reported.
