'The Kashmir Files' movie should not have been cleared for screening - this is what Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar reportedly said, amid a raging debate on the film.
Pawar became the latest Opposition leader to take on the BJP over the movie, saying that the VP Singh government, supported by BJP, was in power when the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits happened. Pawar reportedly said that Jagmohan was the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir when the exodus happened, and Jagmohan later contested elections as a BJP candidate.
The NCP chief made the comments while addressing a meeting of the minorities cell of his party's Delhi unit on March 31, as per reports.
Earlier, Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal had slammed BJP for promoting 'The Kashmir Files'. Kejriwal had said that instead of asking for tax concessions on the movie, BJP should tell director Vivek Agnihotri to upload the movie on YouTube so everyone can watch it for free.
Congress' Randeep Surjewala had said, "Life is not run by seeing or showing films." Opposition parties have also asked BJP when Kashmiri Pandits would be rehabilitated in the Valley.
