A Congress leader in Tamil Nadu's Dindgul district has been booked for allegedly threatened to chop off the tongue of the judge who delivered the verdict against Rahul Gandhi in a 2019 criminal defamation case.

Manikandan made the remark during a protesting against Rahul Gandhi's disqualification
in Tamil Nadu's Dindigul on April 6.

Following Manikandan's remark, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed the Congress party over its leader's remark. Speaking with news agency ANI Rijiju said, "This is not happening for the first time that Congress is threatening the judiciary. Even before the Emergency, the Congress people attacked the Judiciary. They are doing it now also because they are frustrated. We believe in the Constitution".
