'They can't give you back Art 370...': In his first rally in Kashmir since quitting the Congress, Ghulam Nabi Azad hit out at politicians promising restoration of Jammu and Kashmir's special status under Article 370 of the Constitution.
At the event on 11 September 2022, Azad said that only a government with two-thirds majority in Parliament can undo what was done on 5 August 2019.
Hitting out at Opposition parties, the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir said, "Azad knows what can and cannot be done. I or the Congress party or the regional parties cannot give you back Article 370, neither can (TMC chief) Mamata Banerjee, or DMK or (NCP chief) Sharad Pawar."
Azad said that he was making the situation clear as his critics question him for not commenting on the special status issue. He added that he speaks about restoration of statehood, and the Union Territory's land belonging to the locals, and not outsiders.
The veteran politician, who is planning to launch his own party, said that he would never mislead the people for electoral gains.
