Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur will offer MBBS in Hindi from October this year. The announcement was made by Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday who referred to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 that promotes technical courses in mother tongue.
The course will be taught in Hindi for first semester students at the Chhattisgarh university.

While speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the new campus of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) in Gandhinagar Shah drew attention towards the importance of learning in mother tongue. The minister said that teaching in the native language of the students would help them achieve a better understanding of the subject as opposed to simple rote learning methods.
Notably, the Madhya Pradesh government was the first to announce the start of the MBBS course in Hindi in Bhopal's Gandhi Medical College from the next academic session this year.
