Amid attempts by many Opposition leaders to form a united front for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a war of words has broken out between the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi mocked Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, his TRS party hit back.

KCR's son KT Rama Rao on 1 November 2022 said that "international leader Rahul Gandhi" can't even win "his own Parliament seat in Amethi", but is ridiculing KCR's national ambitions. KTR added that "wannabe PM" Rahul Gandhi "should first convince his people to elect him as an MP" from Amethi.

A day earlier, Gandhi had said that the Telangana CM is welcome to think that he is running an international party that is fighting elections in the US or China.

In response to KTR's attack, the Congress said that it is not a "Nizam shahi party", and that the "eighth Nizam" currently sits in Hyderabad.
