A crisis is gripping Maharashtra, but the main stage is over 2,000 km away, in Assam. With rebel Shiv Sena MLAs staying at a hotel in Guwahati, Assam's BJP Chief Minister commented on the unfolding drama.

Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that he was unaware if any MLAs from Maharashtra were staying at a hotel in the capital city. Sarma said that there are "many good hotels in Assam" and people are free to visit and stay. He said that MLAs of other states can also visit the northeast state.

Interestingly, the Assam CM had visited the hotel where the Shiv Sena rebels are staying. However, Sarma had left the hotel before the rebels checked in on 22 June.
