Sparking a fresh political controversy in Maharashtra, a Bharatiya Janata Party leader was slapped allegedly by workers of the ruling Nationalist Congress Party.
The chief of BJP's Maharashtra unit Chandrakant Patil tweeted a video of the incident on May 14. Patil said that the victim was BJP spokesperson Vinayak Ambekar.
He sought action against the "NCP goons". Ambekar was targeted by NCP workers for posting comments against party supremo Sharad Pawar.
The latest incident comes in the wake of the arrest of Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale, and student Nikhil Bhamre. The two have been accused of sharing objectionable posts targeting Sharad Pawar. Ketaki Chitale has been sent to police custody till May 18.
Pawar's NCP is part of the ruling alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi in Maharashtra. It also includes the Shiv Sena and Congress.
