Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited India's next President Droupadi Murmu at her temporary residence in Delhi to congratulate her on being elected to the highest office in the country.
In his congratulatory tweet earlier on Thursday, the Prime Minister said that expressed confidence that Droupadi Murmu will make an "outstanding" President and said India has scripted history with a daughter from a tribal community being elected to the top post.
He added that she has emerged as a ray of hope for citizens, especially the poor, the marginalised and the downtrodden.
Home Minister Amit Shah too called on Murmu and presented her with a bouquet. In a series of tweet, he spoke about the struggles India's next President had to go through in life and added that her tenure would undoubtely make the country proud.
BJP presidnet JP Nadda and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also visited Murmu at her residence.
