Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi's visit to Wayanad on Tuesday has triggered speculation over in the Congress circle if the party is mulling to keep Vadra as a standby for her brother's former constituency if Rahul Gandhi's conviction in the 2019 defamation case is not stayed and the Election Commission announces a by-poll in between.
Priyanka accompanied Rahul on his maiden visit to Wayanad after being disqualified as a Lok Sabha member.
She made a scathing attack against the Centre and charged that the whole BJP dispensation was "mercilessly attacking" her brother Rahul Gandhi, and that the Prime Minister himself found it appropriate to malign him just because he asks questions.
Addressing a mass public meeting organised by UDF workers, she said Rahul's future as Wayanad MP was now in the hands of the court.
