India gets consular access to 8 death row prisoners in Qatar

The eight Indians on a death row in Qatar have got consular access. 

The Indian Ambassador to Qatar met the former Indian Navy officials who have been convicted on charges of being spies for Israel. 

The access was granted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim on the side-lines of COP28 climate summit in Dubai.

At a routine press briefing, External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told reporters, "... our Ambassador got consular access to meet all eight in prison on December 3."
