Rishabh Pant accident: cause revealed by Uttarakhand CM after he visits cricketer at hospital

Uttarakhand Chief Minister on 1 January 2023 visited cricketer Rishabh Pant at the hospital, and subsequently revealed the cause of his severe accident.

Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Pant claimed he was trying to "avoid a pothole or something black" on the Delhi-Dehradun highway when his swerved across the road and hit a divider.

The CM was at the hospital for nearly an hour taking an update on Pant's condition from his mother, sister and doctors. He assured them that the state government will give all help for the treatment of the cricketer.

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Director, Shyam Sharma, who met Pant on 31 December 2022, had also said quoting the batter that the accident occurred when he was trying to negotiate a pothole in the early hours of 30 December.

Pant had a miraculous escape after his car hit the divider and went up in flames. The cricketer is being treated for injuries at the Max Hospital in Dehradun.
