Amid Rishabh Pant's claim that he met with an accident while avoiding a pothole on the Delhi-Dehradun highway, authorities reportedly began filling potholes around the accident site.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officials began work on filling potholes on 31 December 2022, a day after the accident, according to reports. However, the work had to be halted due to a traffic jam on the highway.

The NHAI said that it was carrying out "patchwork to smoothen the road".

Uttarakhand Chief Minister on 1 January 2023 visited cricketer Rishabh Pant at the hospital, and subsequently revealed the cause of his severe accident.

Pushkar Singh Dhami said that Pant claimed he was trying to "avoid a pothole or something black" on the Delhi-Dehradun highway when his swerved across the road and hit a divider.
