Much before it was submitted to the court, a survey report of the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi was leaked. According to the leaked information the media reported that the surveyors had found a ‘Shivling’ inside the complex much to the elation of the right wing Hindu groups.
On the last day of the court-ordered filming on Monday, the lawyer for the Hindu petitioners claimed a ‘Shivling’ was found at a pond used for purification rituals before namaaz, inside the mosque complex.
And now a top top official leading the filming of the Gyanvapi mosque complex has been sacked over leaked information.
Ajay Mishra was removed as survey commissioner after lawyers representing the Hindu petitioners and the mosque respondents had a heated argument in court on Tuesday over the findings of the filming being leaked to the media even before the report was submitted to court.
Mishra was removed on a complaint by Vishal Singh, who helped him in preparing the report. Mishra told NDTV he was betrayed by Vishal Singh who has now been appointed as the survey commissioner.
According to Singh Mishra had appointed a videographer who was giving statements in the media and spreading rumours. Appearing to concede that the videographer he hired had leaked the details, Mishra fienged helplessness saying he hired the photographer, but he cheated.
The court is hearing the petition of five Hindu women who claim there are idols of Hindu gods and goddesses inside the mosque.nism at the reservoir.
Meanwhile, declining to stay proceedings before a Varanasi court, the Supreme Court Tuesday asked the Varanasi district magistrate to secure the area where a Shivling was claimed to have been found without impeding or restricting the rights of Muslims to access and offer namaz at the mosque.
