Sikkim floods: 16 foreigners among 176 airlifted by Indian Air Force

The Indian Air Force evacuated 176 survivors, including 16 foreign nationals, from flood-hit Sikkim on October 10.

According to an official, the  Air Force has positioned its Mi-17 V5, CH-47 Chinooks and Cheetah helicopters as part of the relief efforts and has dropped 9,400 kg of aid material in the state.

Dozens of people have so far been killed and thousands have been affected in the floods triggered by a cloudburst in Lhonak Lake days ago. Several bridges, roads and other infrastructure have been damaged.
