Spike in Measles cases in Mumbai, one-year-old girl dies

Amid rising measles cases, Mumbai on Monday reported 11 fresh cases and one suspected fatality taking the tally of infections to 303. 

A one-year-old girl died in Mumbai on Monday after contracting the highly contagious respiratory disease. 

Eight people have died in the city so far. 

Mumbai and other districts in Maharashtra have reported a sharp rise in measles cases, prompting the centre to ask states to consider administering an additional dose of measles and rubella vaccines to children aged nine months to five years in vulnerable areas.
