Union minister Prahlad Joshi accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of indulging in hate politics, after a man from Huballi was arrested for being part of the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjit riots
The Bharatiya Janata Party MP said, 'When people do not agree with something, they open old cases. Now they are opening the old cases and arresting people. The person was arrested out of hatred. We are doing legal, political and social struggles on the Hubbali issue.'
The Karnataka police in Huballi arrested 50-year-old Shrikanth Poojari who was 20 at the time of the alleged involvement in post-Babri Masjid demolition riots.
Defending the arrest which has happened over 30 years after the incident, Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah asserted that it is about addressing crimes, not politics or hatred.
He said, 'What will we do if someone has made a mistake? Should we let the person who has committed a crime go free? Our government will close all the old cases and the Police have acted as per law. This is not a politics of hatred. The Police have not arrested any innocent person'.
