Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai booked for violating poll code

K Annamalai, who is BJP's Tamil Nadu chief and Lok Sabha candidate from Coimbatore, was booked on April 12 for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct.

The BJP leader reportedly campaigned beyond the stipulated time of 10 pm in his constituency.

The FIR also names Coimbatore district BJP secretary Ramesh.  

A complaint was filed by a DMK member, following which Peelamedu police booked cases against four BJP functionaries under various sections of the IPC.

Meanwhile, local DMK functionaries petitioned the district collector, seeking action against the BJP candidate for allegedly campaigning beyond the deadline set by the Election Commission.
