Weeks after the Pune Porsche incident, yet another high-profile hit-and-run case has come to light. The daughter of YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Masthan Rao allegedly ran over a 21-year-old youth who was sleeping on a pavement with her BMW in Chennai.

The woman, Madhuri, was reportedly accompanied by a friend at the time of the incident. While Madhuri fled the scene, the victim was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim, identified as Surya, worked as a painter and had married just eight months ago.

"He was sleeping on a pavement in Besant Nagar on Monday night, and a luxury car with a woman behind the wheel ran over him, killing him," a senior police official said, according to PTI.

The Adyar Traffic Investigation Wing police have registered a case under section 304 A of the IPC (causing death by negligence), a bailable offence, and issued summons to the car owner.
