The Press Trust of India has reported that an aide of the suspended Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chaterjee is on a run from tax officials while travelling with a huge bag.
The report said that the Income Tax Department conducted a raid at a hotel in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district after it got a tip off from the Enforcement Directorate department based in Kolkata.
An Income Tax team, which has been camping in Hazaribag in connection with another case, reportedly received an input that the person was in Bhandara Park allegedly to hide unaccounted money.
Officials were quoted as saying that the personnel of the income tax unit then sealed all the entrances of the park, which comprises a multiplex, a hotel and a marriage hall.
The man on run, whose identity authorities did not give and "is considered close" had reportedly left the park a few hours before the tax officials arrived.
The hotel staff, who were questioned by the team members, said he had arrived from Kolkata in a government vehicle, and was carrying "a big bag" with him.
Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the ED in connection with its investigation into irregularities in the recruitment of teachers by the School Service Commission.
