A woman’s family set her in-laws' house on ablaze in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj after she died by suicide on March 18. Two people were killed in the fire.

Anshika Kesarwani was found hanging at her in-laws' house on Monday night. On receiving the news, her parents and other family members rushed to her in-laws' house and accused them of harassing the woman for dowry.

The altercation soon escalated, and Anshika's relatives set her in-laws' house on fire.

The woman's father-in-law Rajendra Kesarwani and mother-in-law Shobha Devi were charred to death. Three other members of the family, including Anshika's husband were injured.

"When the police team reached the spot, people from both sides were fighting. During the argument, the in-laws' house was set on fire by the woman's maternal side. Police immediately rescued five people and informed the fire brigade," police said in a statement.
