The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination 2021 results are out and women are at the helm.
While Shruti Sharma has secured the top position, Ankita Agarwal, Gamini Singla and Aishwarya Verma have secured the 2nd, 3rd and 4th position respectively.
Nearly 685 candidates have cleared the test with more than half belonging to the Backward Classes, Scheduled Caste and Tribes and 244 students in the general category cleared the test.
According to reports, of the top 25 candidates, 15 are women.
The candidature of 80 candidates is provisional while the result of one candidate has been withheld.
The civil services exams are held annually, divided into three stages--preliminary, main and interview. Upon clearing, candidates are trained to work in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS) among others.
The main exam was conducted in January 2022 while interviews were then held between April and May.
