Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi took a veiled dig at BJP's Amethi MP Smriti Irani over silence on unemployment. Addressing a rally in Amethi, Gandhi questioned Irani why she was not speaking on inflation and unemployment.
I have seen my mother going to eye camps and putting medicine in the eyes of children. She would also go to camps for the disabled. She would give pension to everyone. If there was any problem in the village, she would reach there immediately. But your MP is nowhere to be seen, except on TVs," she said on Tuesday.
"And there, she only abuses my family and doesn't talk about Amethi and its issues. Under Modi and her rule, unemployment is the highest in 45 years, 70 crore people are unemployed and around 30 lakh government positions are vacant. Do you (Irani) have any answer? Amethi people are reeling from inflation. Does she have any answer?"
