Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to complete all necessary preparations for the programmes scheduled during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit in the second week of April.
He particularly emphasized the timely completion of projects set to be inaugurated.
On Thursday, CM Yogi held a meeting with officials after inspecting the public meeting venue in Mehendiganj, Varanasi.
During the review, Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma provided the Chief Minister with a point-wise presentation detailing the preparations. He also outlined the projects that will be inaugurated and those for which the foundation stone will be laid by the Prime Minister.
Commissioner of Police Mohit Agarwal briefed the CM on security preparations, highlighting ongoing campaigns against cow smuggling, illegal auto operations, unauthorized loudspeakers, and the installation of CCTV cameras.
While assessing law and order, CM Yogi instructed authorities to intensify foot patrolling to curb incidents of chain-snatching, robbery, and crimes against women. He also stressed the need for special security arrangements at the Prime Minister’s meeting venue.
During the review of development projects, the Chief Minister directed officials to ensure significant progress in the developmental works at Harishchandra Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat, with a mandate to complete them before the monsoon season.
Taking note of land subsidence at certain locations on Namo Ghat, he ordered a quality check followed by immediate repairs.
Regarding the beautification of the Varuna River Front, the CM instructed officials to draft a concrete action plan and begin work at the earliest. He also called for the selection of a suitable site for the expansion of the National Forensic University campus.
Emphasizing the importance of cleanliness, CM Yogi directed that regular cleanliness drives be conducted in both urban and rural areas with active public participation. He also stressed the enforcement of a complete ban on single-use plastics.
To improve infrastructure, he ordered authorities to expedite the road widening project in Dal Mandi. Additionally, he urged the creation of a comprehensive cluster-wise action plan for the structured development of Varanasi.
The CM instructed the Varanasi Municipal Corporation to ensure a steady supply of clean drinking water, particularly during the summer months, to meet public needs efficiently.
