Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday removed her nephew Akash Anand from the party’s national coordinator post.

She also announced that he would not be her political successor until he attains maturity.

In a post on X, Mayawati wrote, “Along with promoting other people in the party, I named Akash Anand as the National Coordinator and my successor, but in the larger interest of the party and the movement, he is being removed from both these important responsibilities until he attains full maturity.”

Akash had been named Mayawati’s political successor in December 2023.

“BSP leadership will not shy away from making every sacrifice in the interest of the party and in taking forward the teachings of Dr. Ambedkar,” she added.
