In a strategic move to enhance disaster resilience, the Uttar Pradesh government has partnered with the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune.
According to the Times of India, this collaboration aims to research and analyze lightning strikes in the state. Based on this study, the plan is to establish 50 Lightning Detection Early Warning Systems (LDEWS) across Uttar Pradesh.
These systems are designed to provide precise alerts for areas within a 2-5km range, enabling timely warnings at a micro level.
