Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the inter-cricket tournament organized by the Uttaranchal Press Club on Tuesday. During the event, he announced a grant of ₹5 lakh for sports equipment for the club.
Dhami actively participated in the tournament by playing a few shots and engaging with the players, encouraging them to embrace teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition through sports.
Highlighting the importance of fitness, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Fit India Movement and urged people to integrate sports into their daily routines. "In today’s fast-paced life, staying away from mental stress and maintaining good health through sports is essential," he said.
Dhami reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting athletes, ensuring better sports facilities, and fostering talent that will bring Uttarakhand recognition at national and international events. He pointed out that Uttarakhand’s athletes recently won 103 medals in the National Games, a testament to the government's effective sports policies.
The event was attended by MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Special Principal Secretary Amit Singh, Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari, Director of Sports Prashant Arya, players, club members, sports officials, and spectators.
On the political front, Dhami expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued leadership and support. Marking three years of the state government’s governance, Dhami took to social media platform X to acknowledge PM Modi’s role in Uttarakhand’s progress.
"On behalf of all the residents of the state, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodiji for his good wishes on the occasion of completion of three years of our government dedicated to service, good governance, and development," Dhami wrote.
He further added, "As a result of your able leadership, guidance, and special attachment towards Uttarakhand, our state is creating new dimensions of development. Realising the vision of a strong and prosperous Uttarakhand, we have taken concrete steps towards making the state self-reliant and strong in all areas, including education, employment, health, infrastructure, transport, and tourism."
