As the rescue operation to evacuate 41 trapped workers from the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi nears completion, ambulances and a team of doctors have been kept on stand-by.

A special ward at a local health centre has been kept ready for the workers. Meanwhile, Uttarkashi DM Abhishek Ruhela arrived early morning on November 23 at the site where the rescue efforts are in the final stages.

The workers will be taken out through wide pipes inserted into the debris.

The mission is expected to be completed by 8 am on Thursday.
