Doctors and police engaged in a tense face-off at Delhi's Safdarjung hospital on Tuesday as cops stopped protesting doctors' march to Supreme Court.

The police blocked all gates of the hospital to stop the doctors from moving out.

Resident doctors have been protesting against delay in NEET PG counselling, which has delayed admissions to medical colleges.

The doctors continued their protest after violent face-off with the police on Monday evening. Protesting doctors were lathicharged and some of them were also detained.

Protesting doctors are demanding an apology from the police that have denied use of force.

Doctors of several hospitals have joined the agitation, which has affected the medical services in the Capital.

To make the matter worse, doctors' bodies have given a call to shut all non-emergency medical services from Wednesday if their demands are not met.

The NEET was scheduled in December 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The exam was finally held in September this year. But counselling for admissions for entry to medical colleges got delayed, which sparked the protest.
