With December headed for culmination, north India saw its first major morning of heavy fog on 20 December 2022.

'Dense' to 'very dense' fog was predicted by the Meteorological Department for Delhi, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, and some parts of Uttar Pradesh. The Met Department also warned of 'dense' fog in pockets of north Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal (SHWB).

Around 8 am, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport tweeted that "low visibility procedures" were still in progress, but flight operations had not been affected.
