The Badrinath highway has been blocked after a landslide leaving several tourists stranded. A video from the landslide in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli shows the moment when rocks started to roll down the mountain and crumble sending up a giant cloud of dust. No casualties reported so far.
Snowfall and rain had triggered a landslide on the Badrinath national highway on April 30 as well, disrupting the yatra to the Kedarnath temple for nine hours.
On May 1, authorities issued an appeal to Chardham pilgrims to proceed on their journey only after taking necessary precautions as intermittent snowfall and rain continued at the Himalayan temples of Badrinath and Kedarnath.
