Violence marred Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal, as the state remained on edge during the processions taken out by local right-wing outfit Hindu Jagran Manch.
The BJP blamed the Mamata Banerjee dispensation for the clashes, especially in Murshidabad where at least 20 people were injured after miscreants threw stones from the roof of a house in the Rejinagar area.
According to the Indian Express newspaper, there were also reports of a crude bomb going off.
BJP's Suvendu Adhikari claimed that it was Banerjee's provocative speech that incited the violence.
He was referring to Banerjee's earlier remarks during a rally where she warned about possible violence that could unfold during Ram Navami.
"It (Ram Navami) is the day they riot, if they abuse you, keep cool and pray to Allah", Mamata Banerjee said.
