On the first day of the Parliament's winter session, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar took over as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
Welcoming him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated him and said, 'Our Vice President is a Kisan Putra and he studied at a Sainik school. Thus, he is closely associated with Jawans and Kisans.'
The Prime Minister added, 'Vice President Dhankhar has great knowledge of legal matters with more than three decades of experience as an advocate'. In a lighter tone he said that in the Parliament he will find no dearth of the people he used to come across in the Supreme Court.

In his address, PM also mentioned the roots of the country's President Droupadi Murmu in the tribal community and now a farmer's son is in the second highest constitutional post of the country.
The prime minister also said the Winter Session of Parliament is being held at a time when India is beginning the journey of 'Amrit Kaal' and assuming the presidency of the G-20 grouping.
