India reports over 4 lakh fresh Covid cases again, 4,092 deaths in 24 hrs

India recorded 4,03,738 fresh Covid cases and 4,092 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the overall case count to 2.22 crore, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Sunday morning.
The country saw over 4 lakh daily infections for the fifth time in a week and over 4,000 deaths for the second straight day.
The fatalities pushed the death toll to 242,362. The number of active cases jumped to 3,736,648.
Hospitals around the country have been overwhelmed by the fresh wave with oxygen supplies running short across states.
