Adding to the restrictions of goods from China, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has mandated that from June 15 telecom service providers will only be able to procure equipment from a list of 'trusted vendors' that the govt will release.

The move is widely believed to be India’s first formal step towards keeping Chinese gear suppliers Huawei and ZTE out of India's future telecom expansion, including 5G technology roll outs, amid continuing border tensions.
