India is a vibrant and colourful country when it comes to its culture and traditions, but some cities also chose to embrace a distinct colour as their unique identity and that sets them apart from others. Coming up, five colour-coded Indian cities and their interesting history. 1. Amritsar is home to one of the most sacred shrines in the world, the Golden Temple and is famously called the golden city. 2. Jaipur is no surprise. Back in 1876, Maharaja Ram Singh ordered the whole city to be painted in hues of pink to welcome the Prince of Wales and Queen Victoria. Pink was believed to be the colour of hospitality. 3. Famous for its oranges world over, Nagpur has officially bagged the title of the 'Orange City' of India. With beautiful orange gardens spread across and official buildings painted in the vibrant colour, the city's landscape is a treat for your eyes. 4.
