The New Zealand cricket board on Tuesday announced that skipper Kane Williamson will miss the T20I series vs India as he wants to prioritise the Test series which follows soon after.

Veteran pacer Tim Southee will lead the Kiwis in the T20 series in Williamson's absence. New Zealand, who lost the T20 World Cup 2021 final vs Australia, arrived in Jaipur on Monday. The second T20I will be played in Ranchi on November 19 while the final game is on November 21 in Kolkata. The 2 Tests will be played in Kanpur and Mumbai.

The board also announced that Lockie Ferguson’s recovery from a right calf strain is going well and he is expected to be available for the T20 series.
