After getting a reality check at the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2021, where they failed to make it past the Group stage, Team India will look to adopt a fresh template in the shortest format of the game as they take on the Blackcaps in a 3-match T20 series at home.
India's road to the 2022 World T20 in Australia starts on Wednesday in Jaipur. The series vs the Kiwis will see Rohit Sharma lead the Men in Blue in place of Virat Kohli, who has been rested after stepping down as the skipper in the shortest format. KL Rahul said that the team was looking forward to Rohit as their leader as the Hitman is really good tactically.
Team India is also infused with young blood and players who made a mark in IPL 2021, including Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Avesh Khan may be given a go-ahead under new coach Rahul Dravid.
India also lost their World T20 2021 game vs New Zealand, something which they will have in their mind. On the other hand, The Blackcaps would be eager to avenge the 5-0 humiliation by India in their own backyard in the last T20 series between the 2 sides.
