After Mohammad Azharuddin said that Virat Kohli's timing of the break substantiates speculation about a rift between him and Rohit Sharma, Sunil Gavaskar has questioned the authenticity of the rumour.
'Is there anything simmering at all? ' asked the former India captain during a chat with India Today. He added that unless both the players come out with something, we should not jump to conclusions. Gavaskar added that if Azharuddin has got some inside information about what has happened then he should be coming out and telling us what happened. 'Till then, I will give the benefit of the doubt to both the players. I don't think it is fair at all for any one of us, without having exact information, to be pointing fingers at either of them' he further added.
Meanwhile, a senior BCCI official told PTI that Kohli hasn't sent any formal request to skip the ODI series in South Africa to either BCCI president Sourav Ganguly or secretary Jay Shah as of now.
