Israeli parliamentary elections on Tuesday resulted in a virtual deadlock for a fourth time in the past two years with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failing to secure a solid parliamentary majority, according to TV exit polls.
However, Netanyahu has claimed a 'great victory' for his party, despite the inconclusive results. In a statement on Facebook late on Tuesday, Netanyahu said that Israelis gave a great victory to the right and to the Likud under his leadership.
The Likud emerged as the largest individual party that dominated the results, according to exit polls. But some of those parties oppose Netanyahu, making it unclear whether he will be able to form a new government.
