Jammu and Kashmir’s two former chief minister Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have slammed the Modi government’s amendments to land ownership rights in the union territory. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti said that Centre has “finally put land in J-K up for sale” while her predecessor and NC leader Omar Abdullah called the amendments unacceptable. Mufti called the new laws as a part of Centre's nefarious designs to disempower and disenfranchise people of Jammu and Kashmir. Omar Abdullah said even the tokenism of domicile has been done away with when purchasing non-agricultural land & transfer of agricultural land has been made easier. He also said J&K is now up for sale.
