Jal Jeevan Mission Director: Water has to be a people's movement

Speaking at the launch of Editorji, TERI and UNDP's campaign on water conservation, Bharat Lal, Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission re-instated the need for public participation in order to achieve equitable water distribution. As per the government's new water security plan, all water related initiatives have been brought under one umbrella, Jal Shakti Ministry and the govt is steadfast in its commitment to solve the water crisis in India. Jal Jeevan Mission Director Bharat Lal, said that since 20-30 days of Monsoon rain is all that India gets to replenish its water supply, it must conserve this water and this can only be achieved through a 'jan andolan' or a public movement.
