Actor Kangana Ranaut had her two bits to give on the new bridal ad my Mohey starring Alia Bhatt, that has the Internet divided.
In an Instagram post, Kangana asked brands to not mix 'religion' with their ad campaigns to manipulate 'naive customers'.
Kangana in her post, requested people to stop mocking Hindu rituals, adding that 'Kanyadaan or Putradaan, the way society looks at the concept of renunciation shows its core value system'
The 'Thalaivi' actor also said added that "when people start to look down upon the very idea of 'daan', then you know it is time for the re-establishment of Ram Rajya"
In her lengthy post, she also wrote that the Earth and women are worshipped as Goddesses, as per Indian scriptures and there’s no harm in seeing them as precious entities"
The bridal ad by Mohey has been in the headlines after it triggered a controversy online, with a section of social media calling it a bold, progressive step and another group of netizens calling if offensive to Hindu sensibilities.
The advertisement questioned the tradition of 'Kanyadaan', where the bride’s parents 'give' her away to the groom's family.
