As she faces massive flak over her 'freedom' comments, actor Kangana Ranaut defended herself saying that she is ready to return her Padma Shri if someone can enlighten her about what took place in 1947.
Speaking during a Times Now summit, Kangana had said that India attained freedom in 2014, when the Narendra Modi-led government came to power, and described the country’s independence in 1947 as “bheek”, or alms.

She further wrote, she has worked in a film based on a martyr Rani Laxmi Bai, and extensively researched on the first fight of freedom in 1857. She further asked, why Gandhi let Bhagat Singh die?
