The UP Police on Thursday arrested two persons in the Lakhimpur Kheri case while the main accused, Ashish Mishra, who is the son of union minister of state Ajay Mishra is still untraceable while the UP police have summoned him.

Stating that raids are underway, the police said the two arrested, identified as Luvkush Rana and Ashish Pandey are close aides of Ashish.

The arrests come hours after the Supreme Court asked the UP government to file a status report on who are the accused, against whom FIR is registered and those arrested.

8 people, including 4 farmers, were mowed down last Sunday allegedly by the vehicle of the minister during a farmer protest in Lakhimpur Kheri.
