A day after he was served a second notice to appear before the police, MoS for Home Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish on Saturday appeared at the Crime Branch office in Lakhimpur Kheri for questioning.

SP Vijay Dhull did not respond to questions on whether Ashish would be arrested. Dhull however said they will 'give updates from time to time'

An FIR under the charges of murder and rioting has been filed against Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra.

Ashish Mishra was summoned by the Uttar Pradesh police on Friday but he did not show up and had sought more time.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court, on Friday, said that it was "not satisfied with the actions taken by the state" in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. The apex court pulled up the state government and asked why Ashish Mishra has not been arrested yet. Fixing 20 October as the next date of hearing, the court sought for steps to be taken to ensure evidence is protected.
