A new, longer version of the video clip that showed an SUV ramming through protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday appears to contest Union Minister Ajay Mishra's claim that farmers first attacked the car.
The video shows the car ploughing into a group of unarmed farmers at high speed. The video puts a question mark on the minister's claim that the driver lost control as the vehicle came under attack from the farmers.
Editorji cannot independently verify the authenticity of this new video.
In the video, the driver seems holding on to the steering wheel firmly and driving into the group of farmers at a very high speed.
Eyewitnesses have said that it was after this incident that an enraged mob attacked the cars, set them on fire and four people from the convoy were beaten to death.
A shorter and low resolution version of the same video was earlier shared by several opposition leaders as proof that the blame for the Sunday's violence lay on the minister's convoy and the BJP workers.
MoS Home Ajay Mishra has consistently claimed that his son Ashish Mishra was not at the incident, while the farmers have maintained that Ashish was in the car that ran over farmers.
